Jennifer Metaxas, M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist and Owner
Jennifer Metaxas (Less) is the owner and founder of Speech and Language for Kids LLC. She is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist licensed in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. A Chicago native, she received her Master's degree from Northwestern University and Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She moved to Delaware in the summer of 2018. She currently resides in Garnet Valley, PA with her husband and 3 children.
Jennifer has worked as a speech-language pathologist in both the private practice and school setting. Through education and experience, Jennifer has had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations, ages, and disorders. She is listed on www.apraxia-kids.org as an apraxia specialist. She is formally trained in PROMPT and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Jennifer has experience using a variety of high tech communication devices, including Proloquo2Go, ChatFusion, and Tobii Dynavox.
Jennifer has a passion for working with children and their families. She is highly collaborative and compassionate, and truly cares about the progress of her clients and the treatment they receive.
Michelle Fillioe, M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Michelle graduated from LaSalle University with a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA). Michelle's many years of experience includes: working in public schools, outpatient facilities, telepractice, and home care. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to speech sound disorders, expressive and language disorders, and pragmatic language disorders in toddlers, preschool children, and school-aged students. Michelle loves to continually learn new therapy techniques to benefit her clients and keep up to date with the latest research.
Ann Marie Gardner, M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Ann Marie is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist in Delaware. She is from Hershey, Pennsylvania and received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Penn State University. Her graduate degree was funded by a training grant designed to prepare pre-service speech-language pathologists to support individuals with the most complex communication needs, many of which require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to communicate.
Ann Marie has practical and clinical experience with a variety of AAC devices such as iOS systems (iPads), Tobii I-Series, PRC Accent systems, mid-tech switches as well as communication applications/software programs such as TouchChatHD, LAMP Words for Life, Boardmaker, Proloquo2Go, ClickerConnect/ClickerSentences, GoVisual, SnapScene, Predictable, Compass, Communicator 5, and GoTalkNOW. She has worked with individuals with a wide range of speech and language disorders from birth to adulthood, in both the school system as well as in-patient rehabilitation setting. Ann Marie is also proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
Ann Marie’s clinical approach follows the neurodiversity paradigm by utilizing compassionate therapeutic treatment methods that promote self-autonomy and self-advocacy. All modalities of communication are honored and encouraged for all individuals. She is passionate about giving all her clients the ability to communicate what they want to say, how they want to say it, when they want to say it, and to whoever they want to say it.
Teresa Huff, M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Teresa Huff is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist in Delaware with over 25 years of experience. She received her bachelors from then Loyola College in Baltimore and her masters from Gallaudet University. She has provided speech and language services to individuals across all ages and settings but has found her professional focus to primarily be with birth to 5; early intervention. She has formal training and experience in using augmentative and alternative communication systems and approaches for complex communication needs (e.g. PECS, Floortime, TouchChat, LAMP, Hanen, Social Thinking). Teresa continually participates in educational courses and webinars to enhance knowledge and skills across speech and language areas.
Teresa believes in the importance of a play based, child/family centered approach to early intervention that follows the child’s lead, eliciting engagement and motivation to promote carryover of communication skills beyond each therapy session.
Eliza Milnes M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Eliza Milnes is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist licensed in Pennsylvania and Delaware with nearly 20 years of experience. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and gained valuable skills as a school-based-travel therapist in Illinois, California, and Pennsylvania during the first 5 years of her career.
Originally from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, Eliza now lives in North Wilmington, DE and works full-time at a school district in Delaware County, PA. She has been formally trained in PECS, PROMPT, and TouchChat and participates in numerous continuing educational opportunities related to the field of speech and language pathology each year. Eliza has experience working with clients of all ages, disorders, and disabilities. She believes that therapy should be fun and functional and strives to provide her clients with the skills, strategies, and interventions to be successful communicators across their lifetime.
Lauren Stewart M.S. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Lauren is an ASHA certified speech language pathologist licensed in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. She received her bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s degree from La Salle University. She has worked in a variety of settings including the school setting, pediatric outpatient office, private practice, and early intervention. Through her various professional experiences, she has had the opportunity to work with various ages and a variety of populations allowing her to gain experience with evaluating, assessing, and treating various speech, language, and communication disorders. Lauren continues to expand and enhance her knowledge across speech and language development and treatment by participating in educational courses.
Lauren believes in creating connections with her clients and families to help create a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment. She also finds importance in making therapy functional, individualized, and engaging to help support progress and carry over of skills outside of the speech therapy sessions!
